Useful Information

Everything you need to know to prepare for your trip and make the most of your adventure.

Spring (April to June) and Autumn (September to November) are ideal. Temperatures are mild and the cultural calendar is packed. In summer (July-August), heat can exceed 40°C, and many shops close in August. Winter is sunny but crisp.
Madrid's metro is excellent. Buy a rechargeable 'Multi' card at any station and load a 10-trip pass (around €12.20). The historic center is also very compact and walkable.
Madrid is extremely safe, even at night. Just watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas like Sol, Plaza Mayor, and the airport metro line. Note that locals eat late: lunch at 2:30 PM, dinner at 10:00 PM.
