After decades of discussion and planning, Spain and Morocco have officially reactivated the ambitious underwater tunnel project under the Strait of Gibraltar. This infrastructure, which would extend over 40 kilometers and connect Tarifa in Spain with Tangier in Morocco, promises to be a revolutionary change in international transport. Once completed, this tunnel is expected to provide a direct and fast connection for the transport of goods and passengers between Europe and Africa, facilitating agricultural, industrial and commercial exports.
The expected economic benefits are significant, as the tunnel would improve the efficiency of cross-border trade, reduce delivery times and allow for greater integration between markets. It is also expected to boost tourism and create new jobs on both sides of the Strait. The first phase of the project will include technical and financial studies before construction begins.
